Jorge Luis Davila, MD, is a Psychiatry Resident Physician at Southern Winds Hospital who provides patient-centered mental health care under the supervision of Psychiatrist Dr. Hugh Humphery at Unified Psychiatry. He believes mental wellness is best achieved by understanding the whole person, integrating evidence-based psychiatric treatment with nutrition, lifestyle, and individualized care. His approach emphasizes comprehensive evaluations that consider each patient's medical history, daily routines, life experiences, and personal goals to develop thoughtful, personalized treatment plans.
Dr. Davila earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2014 and is currently completing his psychiatry residency at Southern Winds Hospital. Prior to residency, he served as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the University of Miami Memory Disorders Clinic, a Clinical Research Assistant in Columbia University's Department of Psychiatry, and a Chief Medical Assistant and Medical Scribe at Adrian De Castro Quiros M.D. PLLC, experiences that strengthened both his clinical and research background.
Dr. Davila has a strong interest in integrative and nutritional psychiatry, recognizing the important role that nutrition, physical health, and lifestyle habits play in emotional well-being. His clinical interests include nutritional psychiatry, the gut-brain connection and microbiome, brain health, attention and memory, psychiatric supplementation, exercise physiology, and the effects of physical activity on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). He is also interested in the evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) in psychiatry and hopes to continue educating others on these emerging topics.
Born and raised in Venezuela with Colombian heritage through his mother's family, Dr. Davila brings a multicultural perspective to psychiatric care. He is a native Spanish speaker and also speaks basic Portuguese, allowing him to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds and provide culturally responsive care.
Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Davila enjoys staying active through exercise, spending time at the beach, traveling, and exploring new hobbies, including crocheting. He also enjoys watching anime and believes maintaining balance and personal well-being is an important part of living a healthy life.
Dr. Davila is committed to helping patients better understand their mental health through thoughtful evaluation, evidence-based treatment, and an integrative approach that recognizes the connection between mind and body. Whether you are seeking a psychiatric evaluation, medication management, or a personalized treatment plan, he is dedicated to providing compassionate care that empowers patients on their journey toward lasting well-being.
