Katyna Rosario, MD is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who joined South Florida Integrative Medicine in 2020, where she sees children through young adult patients at South Florida Integrative Medicine, treating a wide range of mental health diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism, Depression, developmental disabilities, and conduct disorders.
Dr. Rosario obtained her medical degree with honors from University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 2005, and stayed on to complete a residency specialization in Psychiatry in 2009. She returned to the University of Puerto Rico to further subspecialize in psychiatric care for children and adolescents, completing her training in 2013.
Dr. Rosario particularly enjoys working with children and adolescent patients who have a diagnosis of Autism. Her philosophy of care is to integrate a broad range of resources that may be available to a patient either at our practice or beyond our walls in order to provide a broad foundation for reaching their goals. Dr. Rosario often seeks to expand treatment settings for her patients whenever possible to go outside the office setting. She incorporates activities such as yoga, dance, art therapy, sports, and simplified surf therapy when appropriate in her patient treatment plans, drawing upon her successful past experiences of working in intensive summer camp programs. Dr. Rosario also enjoys conducting on-site home and schools visits as needed so that she can broaden her clinical perspective by observing and interacting with her patients in their real-life settings.
Additionally, Dr. Rosario specializes in working with patients who are managing chronic physical conditions like Diabetes and genetic disorders, seeking ways to mitigate the impact these conditions have on her patients’ mental health. Dr. Rosario has focused her past research on the mental of health of adolescent youth in Latino communities, publishing papers on subjects that include the use of psychiatric services and the impact of internet addiction on mental health in this populations.
Dr. Rosario is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, providing services to patients in both languages. She grew up in Puerto Rico and loves spending time at the beach. She is also a Professional Clown and has conducted and published research on the positive impact of clowning on children’s mental health.
