Javier Reyes, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist who provides mental health care to children, adolescents, and adults at South Florida Integrative Medicine. Dr. Reyes joined our practice in 2021.
Dr. Reyes is well-versed in treating a broad range of mental health presentations in his patients, with special focus on diagnoses of ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, and Mood Disorders. He also enjoys working with neurodiverse patients who are identified within the Autism Spectrum. In addition to considering medication when indicated, Dr. Reyes incorporates tools of support like psychodynamic therapy, family systems therapy, physical activity and nutrition, and the practice of mindfulness into customized treatment plans for his patients.
Dr. Reyes was conferred his medical degree by Florida International University in 2015, and completed his residency in adult psychiatry at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Health System in 2018. He further specialized in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Dallas at the University of Texas Southwestern-Children’s Medical Center, completing its fellowship program in 2020.
In addition to working with his clinical patients, Dr. Reyes has a professional passion for helping children and adolescents cope with academic stress. He has conducted research on the impact of academic self-assessment and perfectionism in the outcomes of adolescent suicide prevention, and is available to consult with parents, teachers, and schools for student resilience interventions. He is currently furthering his training to become certified in psychodynamic therapy.
Dr. Reyes was born and raised in Havana, Cuba prior to immigrating to the United States as a young adult where he settled with his family in Miami. Dr. Reyes is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, providing services to patients in both languages.
